Recreation
Recreation

Salisbury and Lakeville have a terrific variety of outdoor recreational activities, historic sites and cultural events. Among the many outdoor activities, Lime Rock Park and Skip Barber Racing continue to be favorites.

Lime Rock Park
(4 1/2 miles from Interlaken)

One of the most unusual tracks in the U.S., and the popular site for Skip Barber Racing School races, Lime Rock Park is a 1.53-mile road course with professional and amateur road racing, car shows and antique auto festivals. Opened in 1957 by Jim Vaill, Lime Rock Park hosts major professional races on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

Pro races make up a very small part of the Lime Rock Park Schedule. Generally there are one or two SCCA National races and a large number of SCCA regionals occurring at the track during the course of a year. In addition, there are a large number of Club Dates put on by organizations such as the Porsche Club of America, the BMW Car Club of America, Aston Martin Owners Club, Jaguar Owners Club, Audi Quattro Club USA, Vintage Sports Car Club Of America (VSCCA), Ferrari Club of America and more.

Tthe East Coast headquarters of the Skip Barber Racing School is located nearby in Lakeville, and Lime Rock Park is one of the most popular sites for Skip Barber schools and races.

Skip Barber Racing School LLC
(3 miles from Interlaken)

In 1975, race car driver Skip Barber first opened his fully integrated system of racing and driving schools, racing championships, corporate events and special projects. Since 1983, the Skip Barber Racing School has trained more than one-third of all Indy 500 competitors and one-fourth of the current NASCAR Nextel Cup field. The company routinely operates its driving school at the nearby Lime Rock Park.

In addition to the Skip Barber Racing School -- held at more than 20 of the finest race tracks -- and the Dodge/Skip Barber Driving School (five locations), the company owns and operates six prestigious open-wheel, equal-car racing championships -- five for amateur drivers, one for professional competitors. The Skip Barber Racing School Corporate Events division creates and conducts custom programs using Skip Barber assets, from Dodge Vipers to Formula Dodge racecars. The innovative Special Projects Group serves the automotive industry with a wide variety of unique, specialized skills.
